HINDI RECITATION COMPETITION REPORT
“Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings”
In regard to the reading week, the Department of Hindi conducted a poetry recitation competition on 21th June (21.06.2021) for the students of Yuvakshetra Institute of Management Studies (YIMS). Poetry recitation is a mode of expression, for the students to develop their verbal skills and to boost their confidence. Since we are stuck with pandemic situation, the participants were asked to record a video and sent it to the Hindi department staff, Ms. Divya N K (Asst. Professor of Hindi) and Mr. Midhun M (Asst. Professor of Hindi) via online. The students were given liberty to select any poems of their own interest.
The participants were given five days time from 18/06/2021 – 21/06/2021 to prepare and send the video.
The Rules given to the students were :
Time limit for the video should be 3 minutes to 5 minutes.
The video must be audible and clear.
The students enthusiastically participated in the competition as they got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence from their home itself. The students were judged on the parameters of confidence, pronunciations, intonation and over all presentation. It was heartwarming to see amazing performance, which was indeed was a result of hours practice.
The First prize was won by Navya k (III BSc PSYCHOLOGY).
Second prize was won by R MRIDHULA (I BSc CHEMISTRY).
Third prize is shared between two students MEGHA MUKUNDAN (I BSc PHYSICS) and ASHWINI RAJAN (I BBA ).
Students namely Shreya suraj (I Bcom Finance) and Farhana.F ( I Bcom Finance) were given consolation prizes.
