Department of Psychology, YIMS, in collaboration with ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services), Kongadu, conducted a five day Psychological workshop from 13th-18th November, 2020. This psychological workshop was conducted for the preschool teachers of five panchayats namely Mundur, Kongadu, Keralassery, Mannoor, and Mankara. The purpose of the psychological workshop was to enable the preschool teachers to help the people in terms of their mental health in the context of post covid-era. Online inaugural ceremony started with the prayer song led by Ms. Sreelakshmi MS, second year student of B.SC Psychology. The meeting was presided over by Rev. Dr. Mathew George Vazhayil, the Director of YIMS. In the presidential address, Fr.Mathew Vazhayil congratulated the organizers and shed light on the relevance of this workshop in the post-covid age. Mrs. Rama R, CDPO (Child Development Project Officer) Palakkad additional, inaugurated the workshop and remembered with gratitude the well-timed initiative from the YIMS. Dr. Tomy Antony, the Principal of YIMS felicitated the organizers and the participants of the workshop for their timely interventions and constructive action plans for the Post-Covid age.
On the first day, the workshop was led by Rev. Dr. Joseph Olikkal, the Vice Principal of YIMS and he spoke on ‘Post-Covid mental health.’ On the second day of the Workshop, Mr. Jith George, Head of the Department of Psychology, dealt with the topic of ‘Post-covid social life: concerns and challenges.’ On the third day, Mr. Sannet Thomas, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology engaged the participants on the topic of ‘Online Education: Challenges and Opportunities’ based on his own empirical research findings. Rev.Dr.Gimmi Akkattu, Academic Coordinator of the department of Psychology discussed with the participants the topic ‘Covid and Geriatric Mental Health. Ms. Athira P.V., Assistant Professor, Department of psychology focused on the theme of ‘Post-Covid Age: Enhancement of women health.’ The participants of the Workshop were 85 preschool teachers of five Panchayats in and around Kongad. The organizing committee was comprised of Rev.Dr.Mathew Vazhayil the Director of YIMS, Mrs. Rama R, CDPO, ICDS, Palakkad, Dr.Tomy Antony, Principal of YIMS, Rev.Dr.Joseph Olikkal, Vice Principal of YIMS, Mr. Jith George, Head of the Department of Psychology, Rev. Dr.Gimmi Antony, Academic Coordinator, Mr.Sannet Thomas, Assistant Professor, Ms.Athira P.V. Assistant Professor, and Ms. Harsha S, II year B.Sc. Psychology. The timing of the seminar was from 3.00 p.m. to 4 p.m.
