The Department of Hindi is very much proud to present the report on the 140th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Munshi Premchand.Munshi Premchand was an Indian writer, famous for his modern Hindustani literature.He is regarded as one of the foremost Hindi writers of the early twentieth century. His works include more than a dozen novels, around 300 short stories, several essays and translations of a number of foreign literary works into Hindi. Premchand Jayanthi Celebration was conducted from 31st July to 4th August 2020.The department conducted story writing competition and National level E-Quiz on the life and contributions of Munshi Premchand. The story writing competition was exclusively for the students of Yuvakshetra Institute of Management Studies.The topic given to the students was ‘भूख की आवाज़’.The students were given ample time to write the stories and send to the department E-mail id.There was active participation from the part of students. They shared their creative and imaginative ideas through their stories.The content of the stories was very much impressive. First prize was won by NAVYA K (II BSc PSYCHOLOGY ), Second prize was won by RIA KADAMANNIL (II BA ENGLISH ),Third prize was shared between SREEVIDHYA K (II BSc GEOGRAPHY ) and VINEESHA BABU (II BSc PHYSICS ). The next competition was National level E-Quiz.This quiz was open for both the faculties and students from different colleges.There were 25 objective questions in the E-Quiz, carrying 4 marks each.The questions were framed covering the topic ‘the life and contribution of Munshi Premchand’ by Ms.Divya N.K & Mr. Midhun M, Assistant professors of Hindi Department.The E-Quiz certificates were provided only to the participants who scored above 50% marks. Around 1000 faculties and students from different colleges enthusiastically participated in the E-Quiz.The E-certificates had been successfully distributed among the participants.
The 5 day competitions on Premchand Jayanthi was successfully concluded.
