The Department of Psychology, on 26 June 2018 with regards to the ANTI-DRUG Day, organised an awareness programme which was held in the Christ-Hill block of the college . The programme was attended by the Arts and Science students of Yuvakeshtra Institute of Management Studies. The programme was titled as “INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING “. Mr . P. T Madhu (Excise Inspector of Palakkad) was the chief guest for the event. The programme commenced by 9:30 with a prayer. Fr. Jaison Kollanur (HOD, Dept. of Psychology, YIMS) gave the welcome speech followed by the presidential address delivered by Dr . Tomy Antony (Principal, YIMS) and keynote Address by Dr. Mathew George Vazhayil (Director, YIMS). The lamp lighting ceremony was conducted and Chief guest took over the stage. The session brought insights on the ill effects of drug abusing and how it detiorates functioning of individual, relationships and also the social system. “To avoid drugs, to stop illegal practices and to forbid its use ” was his message to all the youngsters . Felicitation was done by Rev .Dr. Lalu Olikkal (Vice-Principal, YIMS) and Ms. Vaishna CP (3rd. B.Sc psychology student). The students of psychology department conducted a PSYCHODRAMA which showed intensity of destruction to one’s life due to drug usage. The programme was concluded by a vote of thanks from Mr. . Shimal PV (Asst. Professor, Dept. of Psychology Yims)
In the afternoon, a Rally was organised by the department of Psychology to K.P.R.P Government school, Kongad . The students and faculties of Psychology and Geography departments participated in it. The rally was to share awareness on drugs abuse and the PSYCHODRAMA was performed by the students there as well.
