REPORT
The induction for new staff and the presentation of Academic Year Plan was held on 23 Oct.2020 at Symphony auditorium of the college. The feast of St.John Paul II, the heavenly patron of YIMS, was also celebrated on the same day. The official meeting started at 9.30 am. Ms.Reshma U, Asst.Prof.Dept of Commerce, was the master of the ceremony. The programme started with a prayer song led by Ms.Jisha Shankar, Asst.Prof.Dept of Management. The college Vice Principal, Rev.Dr.Lalu Olikkal, welcomed the gathering which was followed by the report presentation by the staff secretary, Ms.Vineetha Thomas.
The first ceremony of the meeting was the induction for new staff. The college management welcomed the newly joined the teaching and non teaching staff members to the YIMS family by giving flowers and gifts. The college Director, Rev.Dr.Mathew George Vazhayil, officially inducted the staff and wished them success. Then, the new staff members introduced themselves.
Owing to celebrate the feast of St.John Paul II, the heavenly patron of YIMS, a video was presented remembering his life and legacy. St.John Paul II was born Karol J. Wojtyla in Poland on May 18, 1920. He was ordained a priest in 1946. He remained dedicated to laity and youth, working with them on a personal level to deepen relationship with god. He was elected pope in 1978 and took the name Pope John Paul II. He died in 2005 and was canonized in 2014. St.John Paul II’s feast day marks his installation mass on Oct.22, 1978.
Rev.Fr.Shyju Pariyath, Asst.Director, presided over the function and delivered a thought-provoking speech. He focused on the importance of 3-Cs: Conviction, Commitment, and Courage & Communication. Rev.Fr.Shaju Angeveettil, Bursar, lit the lamp and inaugurated the event. He addressed the faculties and insisted them to work with passion and dedication.
YIMS aims at “to inform and form to transform”. Other than subjects of curriculum, the college tries to inform the students about ethics, behavior and values. Heads of all the ten departments presented their Academic Year Plan aiming to form the mind, intellect, behavior and personality of the students. They used power point presentations and mentioned the curricular as well as co-curricular activities of the academic year 2020-2021. Dr.Tomy Antony, Principal, delivered the felicitation after the year plan presentations. Rev.Dr.Mathew George Vazhayil, Director, gave the concluding remarks. He appreciated the faculties for the preparation of a year plan focusing on experiential learning. Moreover, he emphasized the need of communication, positive attitude, moral uprightness and professionalism in the teachers. Then, he released Taxrevista, the e-magazine by the BCom Taxation students. Later, Dr.Joseph Varghese shared his experience behind the publication of his book A Handshake with SPSS. Apart from these, Ms.S Aiswarya, Asst.Prof. PG Dept.of English, and Ms.Reshma P, Asst.Prof.PG Dept.of Commerce, shared their experience of the day.
The College Vice Principal, Rev.Dr.Lalu Olikkal, congratulated Dr.Joseph Varghese, Ms.Greeshma P, Mr.Rohit Ravi and Ms.Reshma U for publishing books. He shared some other official information too. Ms.Shylaja Menon, Head of the dept. of Management delivered the Vote of Thanks. The official meeting wound up with National Anthem.
