Department of Psychology, Yuvakshetra Institute of Management Studies, Mundur in collaboration with Palakkad District Jail, Malampuzha have launched a new initiative called “Yuvathejus” for the prison inmates. The objective of the initiative is to enhance the mental health of prisoners and provide them with counseling services. On 7th December 2020 Rev. Dr. Mathew George Vazhayil (Director, YIMS) inaugurated the event at Palakkad District Jail, Malampuzha Mr. Sannet Thomas (Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, YIMS) delivered the welcome address followed by the Presidential address by Mr. Anilkumar K. (Superintendent, District Jail Malmpuzha). Felicitations was rendered by Dr. Tomy Antony (principal, YIMS), Rev. Dr. Lalu Olikkal (Vice principal, YIMS), Mr. Jith George (HoD of Psychology Department). The official ceremony concluded with the deliverance of vote of thanks by Mr. Dinesh Babu (Deputy Superintendent, District Jail Malmpuzha). After the official inaugural ceremony, the resource persons Dr. Gimmi Antony Akkattu (Academic Coordinator, Dept. of Psychology, YIMS) and Mr. Sannet Thomas (Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, YIMS) conducted sessions on the topic “Mental Health: A Practical Approach.
