The Department of Hotel Management conducted cake mixing ceremony on 10th November 2020, Tuesday at The Casa Romana Training Restaurant which was scheduled from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.
The cake mixing ceremony is an age old ceremony practiced in traditional Christian households. The origin of the cake mixing ceremony dated back to 17th century which marked the arrival of the harvest season of fruits and nuts. The mix is stored for the next harvest season hoping that the coming year would bring prosperity.
This event is conducted to familiarize the students of hotel management under the Culinary Club La Cournne’ during the month of November so that the mixture will be marinated for sufficient time before starting the cake production for Christmas.
As a token of love during Christmas, the department of hotel management is preparing Stollen Christmas cakes for this year. The Event was namesd as ‘Christollen-2020’. The Cake Mixing ceremony began with prayer song by first year students Ms.Merin C.V and Jyothirmayi.V.S. Mr.Vinod, H.OD I/C welcomed the gathering and Chef Akilesh Menon presented a video on the specialty of Stollen Cake. The event was presided by Rev.Fr.Jose Angevettil and inaugural speech was done by our Principal Dr.Tomy Antony followed by a message from Rev.Fr. Shyju Peryath Asst. Director and felicitation speech was given by our Vice Principal Rev. Dr. Lalu Olikkal. The Cake Mixing Ceremony was blessed by our Director, Rev.Dr.Mathew George Vazhayil, followed by the cake marination process.
Finally the program ended up with vote of thanks by Ms.Dheepti.B Assistant Professor, Department of Hotel Management.
