Innovation Tour to Kerala Startup Mission, Kochi

The Department of Management organized an Innovation Tour – A Field Visit for the Second Year BBA students on 5th April 2025 to the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), Kochi. This insightful visit was conducted in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), AICTE, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
Objectives of the Programme:
– To expose students to real-world startup environments and innovative business practices.
* To understand the role of Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in the state.
* To bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application in the field of management.
* To encourage students to think creatively and develop entrepreneurial mindsets.
* To familiarize students with various startup incubation processes and support mechanisms.
A team of 35 enthusiastic students, guided by Dr. Joseph Varghese and Ms. Akhila Gopi S, embarked on the journey from Yuvakshetra College at 6:00 AM and reached the KSUM premises at 10:40 AM. The visit offered the students a unique opportunity to explore the startup ecosystem in Kerala and gain practical insights into entrepreneurship, innovation, and incubation support systems.
The students actively interacted with the team at KSUM, learning about various startup initiatives, support frameworks, and real-world challenges faced by entrepreneurs. The tour proved to be an inspiring experience that aligned well with the academic objectives of the BBA program, nurturing innovation and entrepreneurial thinking among the students.
Outcomes of the Programme:
* Students gained first-hand knowledge about startup incubation, innovation ecosystems, and entrepreneurial challenges.
* Enhanced understanding of how government-supported initiatives like KSUM empower young entrepreneurs.
* Students were inspired to develop innovative ideas and consider entrepreneurship as a viable career option.
* The visit encouraged active learning beyond the classroom and helped students connect theoretical concepts with practical applications.
* Strengthened the students’ awareness of emerging business trends and the significance of innovation in modern management practices.
