B.Com (Computer Applications)- Stands for Bachelor of Commerce with Computer Applications is a 3 year degree course in semester pattern and each semester consists of six months.
In very simple words, Commerce is a branch of any business which covers the economical part of the legal, social, political, technological and cultural systemÂ. Commerce is the choice of a big community of the students. The students, who wish to work in a corporate world, usually select the commerce field in their education. Commerce count all activities those are involved in the exchange of goods and services considered to the money, between the person and companies. Commerce is the only backbone which may cause the market and the economy of the company. The commerce is one of the three basic and broad fields of the education. You can join the government sectors or the private sectors. You can be a part of the corporate world as the analyst, executive, banker, Sr. executive or manager. There are a lot of job opportunities in the commercial field.
The undergraduate programme of Calicut University follows the choice based credit semester system as envisaged by the University Grants Commission and higher education council of Kerala. The programme shall be completed in six semesters. Each semester is a minimum of 18 instructional weeks comprising 90 working days with continuous internal evaluation and university examination at the end of each semester. The internal and external examination shall be evaluated using direct grading system based on five point scale. The Internal Evaluation of the course is done using an integrated grading system based on Attendance, Internal Assessment, Assignments and Seminars etc. Students have to complete a total of 120 credits which consists of Common Courses, Core Courses, Complimentary Courses and Open Courses. Each type of course has its own relevance in the entire scheme of things. Assignment and Seminars for each paper, a Project Work, etc are part of the curriculum. The Computer Application Stream includes IT for Business, IT for Office, Computerized Accounting, etc. Along with this the institute offers relevant add on courses for the overall development of the students.

Eligibility
- A pass (eligible for higher studies) in the Higher Secondary examination or its equivalent, with at least one commerce subject. Candidates who have not taken at least one commerce subject for Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination should get at least 24GPV ( in 6 subjects) in that examination to become eligible to seek admission to B.Com course. A concession of 3GPV will be given to OBC/OEC candidates. The SC/ST candidates need get only a pass (eligible for higher studies).
